The person who advised you about the fuel draining back is full of it. he is living in the non fuel injection era. It can happen but the tank contains the fuel pump and as soon as the key is switched on the pump charges the system and presents fuel to the injector manifold. There are many issues which can cause poor starting --Hot or Cold! The very first is spark plugs and the gaps. I would first check those The gap should be less than the 1.1mm preferably around .8 or.9mm. next is the burn off feature it should be functioning but if the gap is too great then the plugs do not clean properly. The worst of all is the DI module could be going- Heaven Forbid.. the 2000-2003 cars are now being recalled for DI change out. if you are in that pool rush down to SAAB and sign up. Good luck
