look at a whole lot of cars today and you find mixing and matching of many makes and models. Plus competing vehicles are built on the same assembly lines or in shared operations.
I sometimes think of 9000s as the last of the "real Saabs" when they were made in Sweden, but it is a shared platform (with Lancia and Alfa).
To me a Saab is 4 cylinders, turbocharged with excellent seats and great ergonomics. Solid handling under any road and weather conditions. Very safe in an accident and good for the long haul. A Saab is also unique enough so unless you live in an area where they are common (like New England) they are a bit individualistic. And I think the 9-5 and 9-3SS fit that description. IMHO the 9-2 and 9-7 don't, since they are really mostly badge engineering.
