The 9-5 is more Saab than most Japanese cars are Japanese. I think the 4Runner is one of the few left there. At least our 9-5's and 9-3's are still assembled in Sweden. I think Saab does an excellent job of getting the best components together into one excellent machine (even though I am a bit disappointed in anything Bosch). I have a feeling I'd be standing along side Matthew arguing for what makes a Saab a Saab despite what the $$ might be. I think current Saab customers have shown they're willing to pay for that "difference".
Then there are those that go back to the vintage Saabs. Now that's dedication and loyalty. I never really was a Saab person until the 1997 Saab 900 came out. Anyone I knew with the "old roller skate" style (as I called it), always seemed to be working on the car! Whereas I was driving Toyotas and BMWs which never needed much more than regular mainteneace. I never really enjoyed working on my own cars when I was a mechanic. LOL
When I wanted to work on a car, I bought an oldie. I've had a '68 Impala and a '67 Cougar that were my babies. Although I did own a new 1988 Mustang GT that I carried a tool box in!
