European delivery has always been a fixed price program based on a 9% discount off MSRP and excludes all US sales incentives, almost. For 2006 Saab reduced incentives and lowered MSRPs over 10% so the European delivery program became a STEAL this year.
In addition to the 9% discount, less another $720 savings as there is no destination charge so the total percentage discount appears even greater, there is a $2,000 travel allowance on top of that.
So your figures are pretty close, a $36k car goes for $32k and you get another $2k rebate 2 weeks before you take delivery. A $2k allowance rather than tickets on a carrier that might not suit your mileage program or schedule.
Order a couple of months in advance. Pay for the car in full 1 month before delivery, get your $2k back 2 weeks before delivery. Take delivery, keep the car what ever length of time your lifestyle allows and the drop it off at the shipper and wait 6-8 weeks for arrival stateside.
No financing or leasing from Saab or GMAC (although Saab is working on that) but many lenders will finance the car if you don't mind starting making payments before you get the car. When the car arrives you can register it and pay the appropriate tax and license.
Saab Owner Loyalty does apply to European Delivery. Only Lease Loyalty remains in the US, but for European delivery, owning a Saab gets you another $500 off.
A new car and a European vacation are two of the most memorable things in life. Having your own luxury car in Europe can save substantial rental fees, even for an economy car. And operating your car on wonderful high speed, scenic, European roads is quite an exhilerating experience. From Trollhattan it's about 5-6 hours drive down to Copenhagen, across the bridge and the entire European continent is yours to explore. Or stay in Sweden and have a wonderful time.
