I am a little confused about this. What is supposed to be done at the 60K interval? In question are the belt (long versus short), the tensioner (the whole thing or just the pulley), and then there are two idler pulleys. My question is what gets changed with the short belt? What gets changed if I stick with the long belt? Part numbers appreciated for the idler pulley since there are two of them. I think it is the center one that gets eliminated with the short belt. Do you need to change the bolts on the idler pulley? I see some places sell the idler with or without the bolts.
Any thoughts on the long versus short belt? Is Saab still pushing the short belt? I recall reading something about them stopping a while back.
Should one attempt to DYI this or is it too much of a pain? What is a fair price at a dealer or indy in terms of time to do the job?
My 03 Manual only specs changing the belt and inspecting the tensioner at 60K. No mention of pulleys. On a CPO car couldn’t one just swap the long belt out at 60K, drive to 100K hoping for the best, and have Saab pick up the tab if a pulley fails?
