I currently own one of each. Similar to the others I find that they are different cars, yet both still uniquely saab.
the 9000 aero 5sp is scary fast at times. you might get whiplash if you punch it in 2nd or 3rd. lots of torque steer.
the 9-5 is quiet, smoother, more refined. more luxury. but make no misake the 9-5 is fast. real fast.
I get better mileage in the 5sp 9000 ... up to 35 on the highway. my automatic 9-5 struggles to get 29 on the same route.
the 9000 can haul an ass load of stuff no doubt, but the trunk on the 9-5 sedan is awfully big. its not a hauler (youll need a wagon for that) but there is plenty of room for luggage, etc.
what I like most about the 9-5 are the nods to the past saabs. the clamshell hood looks like a 900 when closed. the SID mimics the trip computer on a 9000. the green and orange dash illumination at night. on and on.
