Some people have valid reasons for disliking them, others are just mindless sheep disparaging a car they see as tragically un-hip. As for those in the former camp, I live in the Bay Area, so many folks I know have owned a Saab at one time or another. Several of them have owned several over the years and have told me that they loved the way the car drove, but ultimately grew weary of the relative unreliability (particularly 9-3 owners)and the extraordinary expense of maintaining the cars. Two co-workers that have owned Saabs recently (a 9-3 and a 9-5) moved to Infiniti G35 and Acura TL and are very happy with their new cars. Another ex-Saaber bought a Volvo XC90, which has proven to be an unreliable mess far worse than his former Aero. I know that the Saab cult frowns on Asian derived metal as "soulless", but the newer ones are fine cars that aren't plagued with chronic oil leaks and ill conceived slapdash PCV fixes, catastrophic ignition module flameouts, turbo failures, piss-poor heater valves, loose cylinder heads, etc....I love the way my 9-5 drives, but considering the repairs I've had to perform (often multiple times) over the last seven years, another round with Saab is not in the cards for me, either.
As for what others think, who gives a rip anyhow?
