The socket that broke was one from my craftsman set I got probably 30 years ago. I'm going in to get a tool chest from sears this week, I'll see if the old satisfaction guarantee is still in effect. Who owns sears these days anyway, Kmart? It was a 12 point, at least thats how many "corners" I counted. Why would a 6 point be better? I usually do retorque when someone else puts the tires on. I remember, that day I was a little busy and just never did it. 80 lb ft just seems like its not that tight, though I believe in following instructions. Even when you apply a lube on the thread I would think there would be no difference in the spec.
