Just a quick rant and update for all...posting on here is the male equivalent of relationship talk...
Three weeks ago I bought four new tires from Tirerack, the Bridgestone RE960's. A week after I put the new set on I was on my way to the courthouse, called jor jury duty, I got a nail in the sidewall. Had to have another 960 shipped cross country in from their westcoast warehouse. Fine, shyte happens. Fast forward a week later, it's Sunday morning I'm circling the Best Buy parking lot looking for the space where I'm least likely to get dinged, finally find the space and go inside. On my way out of the store, I notice off in the distance, that the guy next to me was pulling out in his minivan....I think you all know where this is going at this point....by the time I got to my car he was long gone...I did a quick glance at each side and something was off....the light wasn't reflecting off of the wheel well flare as it should....so I walked over and there it was!....a big dent right at the lip of the wheel flare at twelve o clock and a two inch gash through the paint....well flare on the drivers front...big enough so that the plastic underpinning of the well no longer sits flush with the metal panel.....[BLEEEEEEEEEEEP].....[BLEEP} what a [BLEEEP]'n [B"EEEEEEEP]...Who the [BLEEEP] raised these people?! What happened to manners?
Forward another week to last night 11:50PM, so I'm driving along with my three almost new tires and one brand new tire and as I turn into my block I spot broken glass...but I couldn't avoid on the turn......roll up to my house, take the key out of the ignition, open the door and what do I hear? PPPPSSSSSSSSSSTTTT!!!!! Tire was flat in 20 seconds, of course the lug nuts would NOT budge, especially with that dinky lug bar in the trunk...so I jacked it up so that the pressure came off the sidewall, pulled the handbrake and went to bed.
This morning, I drove to a local shop to have the flat repaired. I complained about the slow cranking (10 seconds), he hooked the "crash cart" up to the battery, load/stress tested it and pronounced it on it way out...except that the car wouldn't start and the battery wouldn't hold a charge...so I bought a big Interstate beefer and the Aero starts up like a rocket now. The funny thing is that the battery in there was a Optima red top I just purcahsed a year and a half ago....lasted a year and failed prematurely...so much for the Optima brand name. Good thing costco offers store credit w/o receipt..although I wonder what price will it ring up at when I go to return it...
Do you think that I can get at the ding in the wheel well in order to press it out? Does anyone have a diagram of how to remove the wheel well lining? Or at least an idea if its possibile? It breaks my heart every time I walk up to the land rocket and instead of just covering it with touchup paint I'd like to try to remove the wheel well lining/skirt and take a shot at it...
If you're still with me, thanks for reading!
