Don,
I know you meant well but you just brought all the memories back. :)
I was starting to forget and now I'm all worked up and angry.
FWIW, I bought this 03 in 05 with 65K, I'm at 95K and plan on going for at least another 30K-40K at which point door dings will no longer be a deal breaker.
I tried keeping it nice...I lived in NYC with it for the first year and change. I got a door ding, rear drivers, a month after, six months later some jerk backed into my while parking and slightly dented the top of my rear bumper, or the "loading shelf" where the trunk opening is...ever so slightly so that the paint is intact but you can tell if you look closely. It had to be an SUV because of the height.
It is around that time I went AWOL. I returned the favor to the guy who gave me my next door ding in the Costco parking lot. A while later, my neighbor broke my tail lamp with the brush guard on his Nissan box on leaf springs model...I took pictures and he paid up $200. Got the light replaced... months later a minivan BACKED on top of my bumper when parking, scraped above the black strip..I ripped the guys rear wiper off.. wiper motor assembly included... Now, we're (the land rocket and I) are in the suburbs....she's bruised but still running strong, I don't wax as often as I used to, and I might not was as often but the tan interior still smells like Zaino Z10 leather cleaner....we still haul ass, we're just not as presentable, but other drivers can still make out the shiny Aero designation on my trunk lip. :)
I thought they drill holes in the metal to take the dents out...I certainly don't want two small perforations in my wheel well... is that how PDR works?
