The SID is now integrated into the instrument panel -as it is in many other GM cars without the pixel problem. So I think that can be considered corrected.

The 9-5 has been drive by wire since it was introduced in '98.

Bluetooth would be nice. Even so, there are aftermarket systems and Saab has accomodated them with the $13 wire harness enabling integration with the sound system. But then, an all-new platform would be required to provide that capability. That's something that could be provided as a minor modifiction to the stereo system.

The IPOD....well they did provide one to plug in an MP3 player. Future bluetooth functionality could fix the IPOD issue rather easily without the need for an all new 9-5.

I for one can do without all wheel drive. The occasional snow storm seems more than managable with FWD and good winter tires. I'm planning to take may car off-road. I've got a truck for that. As far as more traction and better acceleration, I suppose it could improve off the line performance but i don't think it would really affect acceleration at normal driving speeds -I've yet to burn rubber on the interstate.

Saab chose one of the trannys that gave Toyota a reputation for the most reliable transmissions in the industry. As solid as it is, there will always be reported failures and breakdowns. I don't see where a new platform will necessarily provide a better transmission that one we have now.

Regarding more airbags: I'm voting for air suits. Basically remove all airbags and fit ourselves into air suits so that should we ever be ejected from the car in an accident, we can bounce to a safe stop.
