t you may not like the car if you give up the hatch on the older SAABs.
You will gain a newer car, a bit more reliablity but lose the convenience of the DIY availablity on the older SAABs. There is practically no DIY information on the 9-5 that I have found. Just about everything is processor controlled. I really miss my old 9000s but the aspect of parts becoming harder to find makes the 9000 less viable today.
The 9000 was a bit mkore fun to drive but the 9-5 is more of a road car and comfortable. Many features you will find well thought out in the newer SAABs. I think the early 9-5s were better than the later lines since GM took over the leather is not as nice. Some of the trim parts are lower quality and some of the convenience items have gone away. A couple that I believe are safety items. But bottom line, if sitting side by side, I would probably chose the 9-5 wagon. The Aero Wagon is a hoot. and plenty useful. After 2003 the seats are better but still not nearly as nice as the 9000 aero seats. Those were the best SAAB has ever done. The auto box in the 9-5 is much improved over the 9000 auto so that concern has pretty much gone to the way side. Some of the newer five speed auto have the selectronic manual shift with paddles. Personally, I prefer the 9-3 shift option much more but it is just too small.
