My best stretch I hit 31 MPG for a 60 mile stretch going between 50 and 60 mph in highway driving with traffic. I go 150 miles each way every weekend, I get about 27 mpg going 65-70 on the jersey turnpike. Last time I reset the SID after getting off the turnpike and the last hour was 55-60 mph as I said above. My other car is my daily commuter (my econobox does better on the short trips) so my arc wagon sits until the weekend. I bought with 87k and have driven about 1500 miles on it in the 2 months I have owned it. I have only put in regular gas. I suspect the first part of the trip cleans evertything out so when I slow down for the last leg of the trip, I get rather good mileage. once going 65, I put it in neutral down a hill, rpm's went to about 700 and I reset the sid (it kept speed down the hill, it rolled pretty well). It said 45MPG for a minute until I got to the end of the hill and put it back in drive then it started going down 2 MPG per second as you'd expect, but I got about 29-30 mpg the rest of the trip, till some jerk challenged me trying to pass me on an exit ramp, then I was going 75 for the last few miles so my trip mpg for my last 60 miles went from 30 to 27. During the weekend, in between my highway trip I ferry my parents around in multistop short trips and the mpg goes south pretty quickly. I didn't notice a huge jump after doing my air filter which was pretty dirty.
2003 arc wagon 88500 miles.
