Make sure you hand calculate, and remember head/tailwinds can easily cost or favor you by 10%, so a single leg with a tailwind might show 33+ mpg at 70 (at least with my 4 cyl) and yet the other way would be hard pressed to hold 27 at the same speed, for a 30 mpg average (typical). Of course we get 20-30 kt afternoon winds out here in the West, but the most consistent mpg readings are always over a round trip, preferably with more than one tank.
