Sludge-Timing/Balance Shaft Chain Replace '02 Aero

A few weeks ago I noticed a slight noise coming from my engine in the morning and this got worse to now it sounds like a diesel engine until the car warms up, then goes away except for slight ticking. From research seems to be timing chain "stretch" or balance shaft chain, but haven't ruled out serp belt/water pump pully.
The dealer shop said they could drop the pan to check for sludge - and if I had oil change evidence - and they found sludge, I may qualify for the sludge warranty. Otherwise, they would replace timing chain/guide for $2200 - pulling engine.
I bought the car on CPO w/ 51K. CPO expired in May. 2nd owner sent me an email saying he changed oil since he had at 35K and only used synthetic. I have changed oil at 51K and every 5K using Mobil 1 0W40. I write down the miles, date, and that oil/filter changed in my maintenance booklet. Like others here, I buy a few cases of oil/several filters when on sale, so don't have receipts per se. Will this qualify as enough evidence for warranty?
Options:
1. Let SAAB Service drop pan to inspect for sludge. If sludged may qualify for warranty assuming my records qualify.
2. Just have Indy cut/remove balance shaft chain for a few hundred $'s. Otherwise, could have them roll in new timing chain.
Anyone have any advice?
Thank you.
