Noisy tires (Vredestein)

I have my 2003 Linear Wagon for 4 months now. Everything is fine. After going from my noisy 350k miles SPG to the 9-5, I was finding the 9-5 quiet.. until I got used to it and realised that it has alot of tire noises, as if I was driving with cheap winter tires in summer.. and it got worse. Especially on hot days.
Got the aligment done, and it sure was part of the problem. The mechanic told me my tires (Vredestein) were unevenly worns, a bit like having "bumps" on them..
Is this inherent to the 9-5 ( I heard it tends to have that kind of problem) or more in link with the tires? First time I have Vredesteins. Are these tires any good? And when I replace them, any suggestion about "quiet" tires? I find the Wagon a bit noisy when it comes to road/tire noises. (like all Saabs I had)
9-5 are "alot" quieter than previous Saabs, I know. But I still find they're far behind what's on the market on that basis. Even a marshmallow Buick or Chevy is quiet..
