your tires are "cupped" Posted by bobc [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Noisy tires (Vredestein), SylvainQc, Sun, 7 Sep 2008 18:26:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
... and they sound like off road tires roaring down the road. There is no solution except to replace the tires. When you do, the car will be *very* quiet.
the real issue is to prevent your tires from becoming cupped:
- get a good alignment.
- have the alignment shop use the rear camber alignment shims from genuine saab.
- rotate the tires every 3-5k miles. This is a pain but I find it less painful than buying new tires every 15k miles.
- depending on the tire, you might want to flip the tire on the rim every 15k miles. I have the shop do that every 3rd rotation.
Some alignment shops will tell you that you have sagging springs resulting in excessive negative camber. I find it hard to believe that springs are becoming a wear item. If the shop cant align it properly with the shims find another shop.
