for an all season that can truly go all year round, I went Nokian's (WR-G2's). excellent traction in all weather; including snow.
if you can go with just a dependable all season, i'd do that. considering you menitoned you're in NE. Michelin's are expensive, but the michelin pilot series is a good tire. I recommend Dunlop's or Kumho's to keep the price down...
if you do end up going summer all performance, try out bridgestone potenza's.
