I use All Season tires for my summer tires because of the ocassional very late or very early snow falls here in Michigan. Typically my change-over dates are March 15th and November 15th.
If I used Summer Only tires I would have to run my winter tires later in the spring and install them earlier in the Fall, possilby adding one month to the winter tire window at each end. This would shorten their life due to faster wear in warmer temperatures.
Multiple the annual miles driven on your warm weather tires by 5 (recommended maximum life of a tire) and use this as part of your tire decision tool. If you will only drive 30,000 miles on your warm weather tires in 5 years, then buying tires with an 80,000 mile warranty could be a waste.
