That may be true in some cases, but I didn't remove anything, other than the plastic cover over the inlet manifold. There wasn't anything I saw or felt that was in the way of getting the thermostat cover off. 10mm ratcheting box wrench for the ground and the line bracket, and a 13mm socket on different extensions to get the cover bolts.
My biggest worry was cracking the brake fluid reservoir when I released the torque on the cover bolts. It's close quarters in there.
