says he checked the info and "prints" and from the OEM specs supposed to be self-tapping bolts. funny some others have said they did not have to do this. the original bolts are tappered points, not flat so I will give it a try with the originals before I bother trying to install again of course. if I cant get it to tap with the bolts, I'll borrow a tap set and use that. he said way it was intended so no warr void by self tapping or installer tapping the threads. very interesting.
so Roger had it right it seems. not sure getting new bolts would help unless the bolts have changed. at a cost of $30 for new set of bolts, I'd like to reuse them! they are very light torqued so cant imagine they really need to be replaced. Sears quoted me this job for about $450 all four same Monroe struts and mounts and rear shocks so I doubt they were replacing anything else in that quote.
another note on the rears. I replaced the upper and lower bushings both at the top of the shocks but I dont think I needed to. however, the front strut bump stop is starting to crumble. different material.
