Jarrald. I think, repeat think, that the tap size required is M8x1.25. If you have a set of metric taps & dies, try threading the bolt into the various dies , dies must be metric, use zero force, It will thread easily in the correct one.Use the same sized tap on a piece of scrap and check the fit.If it is of any help the wis I have gives the part number for the bolt as 7987217. A dealer should be able to give you the specs.I would think the chance of the welded on "nut" breaking the weld is greater using a self tapping screw than a tap with cutting oil and the proper technique. I found it easy to thread the bolts with the threads ready to receive them. The bolts, if you look closely, are self tapping. I could not manage to get them started while holding the strut, spring and spring compressor at the right angle, in the correct position by myself.hope this is of some help cheers Doug
