... performing Saab 9-5 3.0 TID vs. BMW 525 d:
Values Saab/BMW
HP 177@4000 / 163@4000
Torque NM 350@1800 / 350@2000
0-100 km/h 9.3/9.6
0-160 km/h 24.0/24.6
standing 1 km 30.3/30.6
60-100 km/h IV 7.0/8.2
80-120 km/h V 11.0/10.8
top speed km/h 215/219
As I've driven only 3000 km, I haven't done any performance measuring yet, but the values given above seem to be achievable without problems.
I don't know how heavy the difererent 4 and 6 cylinders actually are, but the 3.0 TID clearly should be in another league than the 3.0 V6 running on gasoline, because the diesel is all aluminium, which I guess is not the case for the other.
Road performance is exceptional good, very neutral with slight understeer on hard cornering at high speed.
Running on the 225/45 17 with the Aero like sports tuned chassis, this is a real performer, which gives me lot of fun to drive on empty country lanes.
Well, if this is not enough, there is still the Hirsch 3.0 TID performance package, offering 211 HP and a torque of 420 Nm, giving 0-100 km/h in just 8.1 secs and a top speed of 230 km/h!
Best regards,
Christof
