While this review was certainly not very favorable, I think that the responses here are just as biased. This person obviously did not like the 9-5 and made it well known. Most of us here certainly like our 9-5s, and put down other cars. So I'm going to play a devil's advocate here, because the reviewer hit upon few items:
1. The plastic visors and stalks, as well as the fit-and-finish. They certainly could be better.
2. The "cozy" cabin feeling. While a lot of you dissagree, I share Edmunds findings - the cabin feels a little cramped for a car this size.
And by the way, my wife had a 300M for two years, and IMHO there is no comparision between the handling of the 300M and my '99 9-5 SE V6 - the 300M is MUCH better. While I'm sure that the new Aero is better than my V6, so is the new 300M Special better than my wife's old model. The 300M corners much flatter, there is minimal torque steer, the handling limits are higher, and it is just plain more fun to drive.
If I was looking for a car that is fun to drive, I would certainly not buy a front-wheel driver, but if I had to, it would not be a Saab. Just MHO. I'm lucky that I have a second car - a '97 Miata 5-speed. Now that's FUN to drive :)
To finish on a positive note though, I love my Saab just the way it is, with its quirks, etc. and I'm glad that I don't see one every two minutes, like you do BMWs and MBs.
