Isn't there something to be said for exposing kids to things at home with their parents, in a controlled situtation (though some would argue how much control is availible at 140mph) instead of having the kids do things on their own, out of control?
For example: kids who are allowed to drink at home handle alcohol better later in life.
Isn't the glamour of speeding or drinking better managed and understood by young people when their parents take the initiative to become involved in that part of learning? Sex, drinking, speeding, drugs are all things kids WILL try on their own, and all can have dire consequences even the first time without the proper perspective. And all can be the source of much pleasure and good life experience if not forbidden and the mere mention shunned by parents.
