Topsider for oil changes?

I saw a gadget like this on TV a while ago, and laughed at it, figuring such a device could not possibly remove all the old oil.
For those unfamiliar with the "Topsider" and similar devices, basically, it's a device that sucks out old oil through the dipstick tube.
You can see it here:
http://www.overtons.com/cgi-bin/overtons/order/pdetail.cgi?21664++
Having searched the internet, however, it seems many MB and BMW owners are using such a device, and some claim that this method actually removes MORE oil than the drain plug method! The reason given was because the drain plug is sometimes not placed in an optimal position, due to space constraints. Griot's Garage claims that their pump was tested by people in Japan, and removed more oil than the traditional method.
The web site below claims that MB dealers in the United States use the Topsider method...

Anyone try this on their SAAB? What do you guys think?
Still skeptical,
Jason
