and I hope I don't. I've only driven 5K miles on my 9-5, and so far, all I've done was normal maaintenance. I looked up the servicing dealer of my car from the warranty records, and called them. The service rep looked the history of my car, and said there were no major repairs done except that the brakes had been done at 49000 miles. The warranty showed that all campaign work had been done on the car such as the ECM, the turbo banjo bold, the ACC replacement, etc... The car had had all scheduled services. So basically, this car has run trouble free for 62000 miles.
Not bad.
But I'm sure I'll get stranded sooner or later. Stuff happens on all cars. Any time a fuel pump, or alternator goes, you're stranded. I'm aware that the DI Module on these cars often goes bad. I hear the trottle body sometiems craps out as well. Oh well, that's why I belong to the autoclub, and another reason I carry a cell phone.
Because most car owners don't do a good job keeping their cars serviced, the car companies are going to sealed chassis compenents. Personally, I prefer the old zirc fittings. That way you can make sure moving parts are properly lubed and avoid future repair. Looking under most cars today, including the 9-5, you won't find a single one.
And you won't find a car that will never quit on you. There is no perfect car. There is no 100% reliable car. There are no car companies who haven't bought cars back under the lemon law in my State,
