While I meant what I said about zirc fittings, I'd deleted another paragraph that would have tied those comments in a bit better and missed deleting the comments you replied to. Just figured they strayed a bit from the discussion.
But on the topic of sealed chassis joints, I just parted with a '91 Buick LeSabre after turning 200,000 miles on it. Before that I had a '93 Bonneville. Both had a a couple zirc fittings at each wheel for the upper and lower ball joints. Currently, my pickup and conversion van have them as well. I take a little satisfaction in making sure they get greased at every oil change -and I do all my own oil changes. It allow me to feel like I have a little more control over the future reliability of my cars & trucks. That's probably why I miss the old grease fittings.
