handling/performance edge goes to Linear

Last year at this time I was primarily looking at Passat and A-4 wagons (and secondarily, BMW) as my next car. Once I started pricing an A-4 3.0, the 9-5 was in same $ category. SAAB's are pretty rare around here, I didn't have any first-hand experience with them. I test drove a Linear, forgot all about the rest.
I think that a 1.8, bare-boned Passat is a pretty good buy, but I was disappointed in the handling. The V-6 handles even worse with heavier front end. VW really needs to have a sport suspension package available from the factory. I think that the Linear has a better feel than the A-4, but the A-4 with sport suspension might have the nod.
Now the Aero, it is amazing how nimble such a big car feels.
