Hi,
Home-brewing can do some serious harm to your engine. At least 10%
of oil is composed of additives. You don't know how the additives in
one oil will interact with additives of another oil.
Mixing Mobil 1 grades is fine, or topping off with a different oil
when oil level is low is also fine. However, full blown mixing of oils
is a _big_ no no.
Knowledgeable people make home brew oils, but that's backed up by
careful and precise testing.
