I wonder if something went horribly wrong when they changed the turbo?
Older SAABs such as my '88 9000T had a minimum requirement of non-synthetic oil changed every 7,500 miles, whereas 9-5s these days call for a minimum of semi-synth every 10,000 miles under non-severe use.
You should halve the interval under severe use (repeated short trips under 10 miles, excessive idling, dusty conditions, pulling a trailer, etc). What type and brand of oil did you use?
If your car was not constantly operated under severe conditions, a 7,000 mile oil change interval should be fine!
Dang... Anders has pictures up of a SAAB that went 45,000 miles with ZERO oil changes. You had 6 or 7 oil changes over that same mileage... Something sounds fishy.
