I do believe that an engine without proper maintenance will fail. The person who changed there oil every 7,000 miles might not be the original owner of the car. What was the previous history? Also Your oil should always be changed when the engine is hot!! If you change your oil every 7,000 miles with a cold engine I could see possible problems. Scott., If you are that worried about your saab then remove your valve cover. If the oil change maintenance has been properly maintained then there will be no oil "caking" inside the valve cover and cylinder head. You could also drop your oil pan and see how that looks. Also inpsect the pick-up screen.
