If you use the Saab oil, it comes in liters. I did use the 5W30 semi and drained it this AM. There was too much oil to transfer to a 1Gal US washer fluid jug. So I guess that my oil consumption is very little. I do drain for a long time, and drain the filter too.
I am still seeing a good collection of iron and steel (but in perspective, very small) on my magnetic drain plug. It takes a while to get out this material. I swabbed the inside of the sump and washed the swab in solvent. The used the magnetic drain plug to clean out the solvent. There are magnetic particles in the bottom of the sump. So the oil baffle works well. And iron bits, near and below the magnet are obviously quite stable. So if they don't stir up easily to get to the magnet, they are not getting to the oil pickup either. The particles in the sump will be the heavier ones. Smaller one are more likely to be moving and picked up by the magnet.
