Kevin: The all in one key design, introduced here in 2001, WILL work with your car. One thing you should expect, besides a lighter wallet, is reduced range from the transmitter to the car. The antenna in the older cars was optimized for the old style fob, and although the new key does work, most who have retrofitted it to a MY 99 or 2000 reported a shorter operating range( my experience as well) The range is no worse than the range of the new style key in the newer cars by the way, and can run from 6-10 feet to 50-60 feet, depending on the orientation of the key relative to the car, and the height of the key when you push the button. The receiver antenna in the car is in the rear area of the center console, so is relatively low in the car. Transmission is line of sight, so holding the key up high when approaching the car improves the range.
