Maybe I've never had the "opportunity" to drive a LONG distance in the snow/sleet, but I've never had fogging problems.
I typically run w/o the A/C compressor on, and w/o recirculation (i.e., with continuous outside air). That is my default setting. If snow/rain conditions cause fogging, then turning on the compressor and turning on recirc has always taken care of the problem.
