Unfortunately there isn't an easy fix that a recall can do. You can't just give everyone a new DI, because some small percentage of those will probably fail the next day. I agree it's a suspect design and serious safety issue, but short of giving me a new car with a different ignition system, I don't see a solution. The failures of these things seem to be completely random. I think there hasn't been a recall because Saab doesn't have a solution.
