When my DI kicked (at 21k not 300k) I had just taken a left turn onto a highway. The car stalled just after I turned and there was nowhere to go, and no speed to take it anywhere. I was waving cars around my car until two cars stopped to help me push the car to the side of the road, which was a right turn lane with no shoulder. When the cop got on the scene, he was concerned enough that he stayed parked behind my car with the flashers on for about 45 minutes until the flatbed got there. An accident could easily have resulted and I was lucky it didn't.

Recently in this area a semitrailer ran over a car on a bridge. To call the pictures grisly would be an understatement. The media reported that the car stalled while crossing the bridge, with the semitrailer behind it. The car was a Saab. I don't know any more than that, and don't know whether the DI was involved. But this indicates to me that stalling in traffic can have consequences.

And I don't see cars stalled in traffic every day. I seldom see them, and when I do they are generally considerably older and more decrepit than my car was at 21k.

I am not any kind of automotive expert, but I've been driving 35 years or so with a variety of cars and have never been aware of a problem with any of them remotely comparable to the DI Cassette.

The Saab DI Cassette may not bother you, but I think it would bother many people, including me. I would be interested to hear someone from Saab address the issue. Has anyone ever heard any statement from Saab on the issue (other than the statement cited on this board from an "insider" who could not allow himself to be identified)?
