Since I believe that my automatic Aero will easily go 70K on the front brakes before replacementi s needed due to pads.I went considerably longer on my last two saabs with a stick, and will agree with you that in general,a stick has the ability to deliver superior pad and rotor life, however, drive it hard and all bets are off. I now have 55 K on my car,of which 46 K are on the front EBC pads. They were inspected recently and have roughly half the original thickness left,so even allowing for now taking them down to the backing plate,I could go to 70-75 K on them with no trouble. The trouble is that I now have a bit of rotor shimmy, and it bugs the crap out of me,so on my next shop visit I will do new front rotors and new EBC pads. From a standpoint of wear,I might not be getting as much life out of these as a stick, but then again,I also do not have to shift that crappy Saab transmission, and am probably getting more pad and rotor life out of mine than those who drive their cars hard, even if they are stuck with that stick. (Had to put my digs in there for one of our readers, who knows who s/he is). Auto forever!!!!! Lou
