anti-seize for rims

after a LONG struggle trying to remove the winter set and denting my car doing it, I applied anti-seize lubricant. (struggle doesnt sufficently describe my effort to remove all 4 wheels) Apparently little or none was put on last fall when it was at the dealer. I could not find a copper based
product and had to settle on what looks to be a silver based product.
(permatex anti seize lubricant) on the package it doesnt specifically state for use on rims or tire installation. Does state prevents corrosion and okay on aluminum head equipped engines, hinges, brake parts etc.
A mechanic stated "just slap some axle grease on them, thats what we do".
Any thoughts or comments if I can safely leave this on the car or should I remove it immidiately.
By the By: the dealer that handled the car last fall is no longer dealer for Saab, they lost the line and sell Scion now. EEK GADS!!!
