Good point about the fees. Every time I present someone with a price, right under the price it says "plus tax, tags, processing". This is done without exception and it is good business. People don't like suprises once they commit to do business and are in the finance office. I am also working for a very well respected automotive group in the DC area that stresses a low pressure approach and upfront pricing with no suprises. There are some shady places where that simply is not that case! There is also the fact that we work on commission so when a big deal goes down, high fives are in order. It might be tacky and it is not done in front of the customer obviously but when you make a weeks worth of income in 3 hours it is pretty darn exciting and that doesnt make us greedy or dishonest! We have families to support also. The crazy thing is, the people who typically pay the normal amount for a car (usually half way between MSRP and invoice for us) without intense negotiating are the happiest customers who send referrals and come back to do future business, even if they could have paid less negotiating harder. The people who fight for all the holdback and a waived processing fee are the ones who trash you on the survey and tell everyone what a bad experience they had, even though they got the car for dirt cheap. It's twisted I tell you.
