FWIW I have a '99 lpt with 95K miles on it. Original SID and turbo. The ONLY trouble this car has given me in all these miles is the DI and serp belt/pulley. I don't think DI and turbo issues are specific to any model year, it seems to affect them all at some point.
If you want to enjoy a car like this you have to give the car some extra attention and you will get a great reward. If you are looking for a car that you don't really have to worry about you should be shopping for a Camry or an accord but then you have to worry about your fun factor breaking down.
It's a good solid car that will wear well, will still look great as it ages and you will not get sick of it.
I wouldn't worry too much.
Good luck
