I had a similar sounding problem with one of my 9-5's.

Only at low speed, and only when turning you would get a thump. Sometimes it was a little subdued at other times one almighty bang.

I also notice a very heavy rattle when driving over very rough roads at low speed. The noise seemed to be coming from the RH side.

Anyway, the dealer replaced the RH strut and top bearing under warranty because it didn't "feel right", and they thought it may have been the problem. No solution.

One problem I had was that the dealer's staff couldn't hear the noise whenever I gave them the car to try and find and fix it.

Anyway, after a year they did hear it and thought it was the ball joint. Replaced it and again no improvement.

Then they thought control arm bushes. Replaced them and the noise is gone.

Apparently the bushes were a little soft and when turning a corner they allowed the arm to move move than it should. When the arm "rebounded" back towards the subframe the bush let it hit the subframe, making the thump.

Thankfully it was covered under warranty so no cost to me (other than being without the car a few days).
