to learn about doing your own maintenance and learning the subtleties of OG SAAB 900s.

When you've had the chance to learn the basics of doing your own troubleshooting and wrenching, you'll learn that the trade you make for the money you would spend on labor can be a lot of your free time. Often you get the satisfaction of a job well done. Not to mention grease and dirt under your fingernails, scrapes, burns, sweat pooling in your glasses, and small stones embedded in your back. But always, use proper safety procesures. Properly-placed jackstands are a big plus in that corner.

Be prepared. You *will* spend a decent amount of money on tools. Most of them are basic ones, though.

Will you get your money back? Probably not. But you will have the rewards of driving a solid, fun, unique car.

Remember that cars are an expendable. Be prepared to have some joker come out of the blue and total your car. But your SAAB may well save your life if someone does. Insurance may or may not give you replacement value. Many of us (including myself) have lost one or more of our SAABs to other drivers. And we come back for more. I'm on my 4th OG 900.

Would I trade my '89 SPG for anything else? Maybe a slightly newer OG 900T or a 9000 Aero. (Maybe a Viper or a Ferrari, but those are infinitely less practical than my SPG. Can you imagine trying to carry a washing machine in either of those? You can in your SPG.)

Welcome to TSN.
