With all due respect to Saabophiles everywhere, including myself, buy her a VW Jetta. They're fun little cars, and practical too. Plus, they're easy to live with, maintain, and love. Saabs on the other hand, especially older ones, regardless of care provided past, present, and future, will need constant coddling by experienced, mechanical, tool-shed possesing individuals such as myself and most of the population of this bulletin board. Saabs are indeed expensive to maintain, and, more than most any other car, turning up the stereo to "fix" a strange noise can, and will be fatal to the car. Thus, unless your daughter is a tool-toting, do it yourselfer grease monkey like the rest of us, I personally would think about other cars. I feel like a real traitor/bastard/scum of the Earth for saying this, but also strongly feel that it is my civil duty to refer you elsewhere. However, if she would like to "become" mechanical, and doesn't mind spending a few hundred dollars on tools (for future endeavors), then I'm sure that we will all welcome her to our little society with open arms. Advice here is always free. After all, I was a 16 year old once with a single working mom, and here I am, tinkering on my Saabs on a weekly/daily basis. Let us all know what you decide!
