#1 Have you had saabs before? Because...
On the one hand, in the 900 she'll be as safe as can be for a car of that vintage (and, in fact, pretty darn safe compared to any car). It's a neat car, a fun car, a versatile car, lot's of character, and with TLC long lived.
*On the other hand*, their maintenance as they age gets streaky and labor/parts are expensive - can kill a checkbook and fill a credit card in no time flat. Ex. the transmissions are not as durable as the rest of the car and go for $2000+ to replace. Also, if you don't live in a metropolitan area it can be challenging to find good service. The car can be as finicky as it is rugged. In short, you *may* swear up and down and wish you'd never bought it because of the headaches and cost. If not for the fact I was born into a SAAB family I don't think I could've stuck it out to get my car healthy again.
So with all due respect, I'd say look at something more dependable and cheaper (doesn't require its own slush fund) to maintain that your daughter still thinks is "cool". Young people have always liked VW's for example, especially now it seems, and they're much more practical, I think, in this case. What do you think?
