...how bad's your rack leaking? I got inspection coming up pretty soon too, and a leaky rack.
Townsend has a tech doc on the rack job you can take a look at. I've been pestering everybody around here for the last week about it. General consensus is that it's doable with determination, handtools, jackstands, and a good knowledge of swedish cursing. It's dirty, greasy, and a big pain in the arse, but it can be done.
One guy told me his mechanic did it for $80, which I'd gladly pay. Sounds like normal bill is more in the couple hundred range, which I'd still consider given my level of experience (beginner). Then again, considering my wallet... Rack itself from a site sponsor for $150, plus or minus.
Townsend told me I could try to prolong the inevitable (well he didn't put it that way, but others did) by flushing, replacing fluid, and trying a stopleak. Might get you past inspection and buy some time.
