I'm looking to buy a jack and a set of jackstands that will suitably allow me to work on Kajsa from underneath. (First work being a thorough cleaning). Could you all please give me your suggestions on the best way to go?
Up until now, I have used my roomate's AC Delco 2ton floor jack, and a couple 2ton jack stands. Problem was, the jack couldn't reach to jack up from the horizontal crossbar in front. So, I would jack up one side at a time, placing the jack just behind the SAAB jacking point, and lifting enough so I could place the jackstand at the jacking point. I always thought this was a little dodgy, because the car wasn't meant to be lifted from there... but if I lifted from the jacking point, then how could I get the jackstand in there?!
Roomate's moving out, so I'm gonna have to get my own set of gear.
Thanks,
Mr. Science (I like the new nickname :-)
