Like others stated, it's more handling then power. The 87-88's only had 5 extra HP & 10 ish torque but later years were more like 15 HP more, still not a huge improvement. I also HIGHLY doubt the SPG skirts weigh 80 lbs! Hopefully someone who has mailed a set could jump in & let us know! I will be selling a set via TSN in a bit & I will have an idea then!
To some I am sure the difference in handling isn't noticeable but for me it definantly is. A friends 93 900T feels nothing like any 1 of the 3 SPG's I have & all of mine have a lot more miles to!
9-3 vs SPG, definantly a 9-3 would take a stock SPG/turbo. The much broader torque band is hard to beat unless the power is cranked. But my 87 SPG with 50% compression on 2 cylinders & running 6 PSI of boost does pull my brothers 98 900 SET up to 60 ish. Then the lack of compression in my aging car (hopefully get new motor in it soon) allows his 160Kmiles newer car to walk on by <:o(
