I recently installed a Blaupunkt Casablanca in my 1989 900T. I got it from Crutchfield with the wiring harnesses but I was unable to use them since the previous owner had had an Alpine installed and the wires were spliced. You noticed that Saab wires are different than the wires on your stereo. I was lucky, because whoever installed the Alpine knew how to match the colors. The Blaupunkt was my first installation so I wanted to be sure the previous installer got it right. I found "John's Car Audio Installation Page" that had color charts for the wires. Go to "Stock Stereo Wire Colors" under info. http://www.streetdreams.com/wires/saab/900-1979-93.html
Note his disclaimer that he is not sure about it. I can tell you that I wired the front left speakers like this: front left (+) Blau white/black to the Saab Brown and the front left (-) Blau white to the Saab Green. Otherwise, I think the chart is correct, at least the Alpine was wired in that way. It all sounds fine now.
I did all of this by soldering the wires which was pretty easy and it was the first time I ever used a soldering iron. I put the little heat shrink covers over the connection.
For PETE-- I wanted to drop a wire to the equalizer slot without taking the dash apart. First I took out the Eq and the metal box it slid into. Then, I admit that I just pulled on the old connecter until it hit bottom and then I just yanked on it until it came out (It took a lot of force, probably not too smart). Then I took out the ash tray and removed the plate behind it (four torx screws and 1 bolt. With the top DIN slot empty, you can reach some fingers in and feed a wire from behind the ash tray (there's a little opening) and pull it up. Then you can go behind the ashtray with the wire and down through the top of the old equalizer slot. You might need to cut a little slot in the ashtray plate you removed but it is thin metal.
