Gaskets, and the new ragtop Posted by Randy Thatcher [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Welcome to the club!!!, burlyb, Sat, 9 Feb 2002 23:14:21 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
First, there shouldn't be a gasket at the elbow. Be careful with the studs though. I remember someone posting that they snapped one off. That's when I'd give up and take it to the mechanic.
The ragtop story is kinda funny. I go out to lunch at a few places near my job, one being the food court of the ritzy mall on the east side of Cleveland (Beachwood). It's the place with Saks, Nordstrom's, etc. Anyway I walked by the car and noticed the rims weren't the standard teardrop style (newer, maybe?), and then I looked inside. I rule out a saab instantly if it's not turbo and 5 speed. Well it was 5 speed and the odometer was in the 50k range! I also liked the wood dash. I told my buddy if it's still there after lunch, I'll leave a note. Well, I left a note and got an email 4-5 months later. Turns out a single woman in her 50's owns it, and she's got the bug to get an Audi A6. She's an interior designer, and the car was in good of shape as her house. What a deal! 94 comm ed. 58k, needs a battery, 1 ball joint, and a spot of touch up paint, $8250. I'll be taking a ride up the eastern seaboard this summer with the top down. Gotta hit NYC and then try some new england B&B's with the wife.
The convertible caused me to close my "play" account... I was told "no more audio purchases" quite emphatically by my better half. I wanted to spend $5-6k on an older saab or maybe a miata. I just couldn't pass up the saab with so few miles.
Good luck on the O2 Sensor! Let us know how it turns out!
Randy
